Answer #1

One must re-read the information and test themselves before an examination as it will help to return a particular memory from the long term memory into the short term memory where it can be accessed with ease. This is then strengthened and consolidated by storing it back into the long term memory. This is what typically happens when one recalls and retrieves the memory. One revisits the pathways in the brain which has been made while the process of encoding has take place and the strength of these neural pathways are determinants of how easily and quickly the desired memory can be recalled and stored in the short term memory, inturn further strengthening the long term memory.
