Draw a mitochondria and label the outer membrane, inner membrane, intermembrane space, and matrix. Label on your drawing the names of the 3 steps of aerobic respiration and where each of them take place.

Mitochondria are also known as the powerhouse of the cell because most of the energy which is required to perform different activities is produced in mitochondria. It is the place of complete oxidation of metabolite. Complete oxidation of glucose occurs under the aerobic condition and called aerobic/ cellular respiration. In the cytoplasm, glucose is converted into pyruvate via glycolysis. Pyruvate enters into mitochondria for further oxidation under aerobic conditions. Pyruvate is converted into acetyl CoA and enters into Kreb's cycle which takes place in the mitochondrial matrix. High energy compounds ( such as NADH) produced in Kreb's cycle undergo further oxidation in the electron transport chain which takes place in the inner mitochondrial membrane and establishes a proton gradient with the help of proteins. Oxidative phosphorylation is coupled with the electron transport chain and produces ATP. It also takes place in the inner mitochondrial membrane as protein ATP synthase which generates ATP due to established proton gradient is present on inner membrane of mitochondria. Finally, electron transferred through electron transport chain proteins to exogenous oxygen along with two protons and water molecule is formed.

what is the function of mitochondria? please draw the structure, labeling the inner, outer membranes, matrix, and intermembrane space. what are the cytoskeletons and what are their functions? . what are the tight, gap and anchoring junctions? . define amphipathic . what are the functions of membrane proteins . what will happen to a cell if it is placed into a hypotonic solution? hypertonic solution? isotonic solution? . if a molecule moves across the membrane using a protein channel, it...
The matrix of the mitochondria is A. The interior lining of the inner membrane B. The space between the inner and outer membranes C. The highly infolded region of the inner membrane D. The outer membrane E. The inner membrane
In mitochondria, the electron transport chain pumps H+ ions from the matrix into the intermembrane space. In chloroplasts, the electron transport chain pumps H+ ions from the thylakoid space into the stroma o outside the chloroplast into the stroma the chloroplast outer membrane into the intermembrane space the stroma into the matrix
5. What are the internal structures of the mitochondria and what parts of cellular respiration take place in each part? (inner/outer membranes, cristae, matrix, intermembrane space)
please label important parts.

Cellular Metabolism Lab We will walk through the steps of Cellular Respiration in this activity. Please do not skip ahead or leave out steps. Fully taking the time to cut out, arrange the shapes, and answer the attached questions will help you to gain a deeper understanding of cellular respiration (the process of making energy, ATP, the major contributor to our overall metabolism). Pages 941-948 in you TEXTBOOK should help you answer the questions. Grading Notes: You can either 1)...
