Answer #1

The deshelled egg has to be placed first in concentrated salt solution. And it has to be kept for a about an hour. Then the deshelled egg will shrink.

Now this shrunken egg has to be placed in distilled water. Then the shrunken egg will be swollen.

In the first case, the egg has got shrunken, since it is placed in hypertonic solution. And in the second case, the egg has got swollen, since the egg is placed in hypotonic environment.

In first case, the egg has lost water due to exosmosis when it is placed in hypertonic environment and in the second case, the egg has got swollen as the egg has gained the water due to endosmosis, as the egg is placed in the hypotonic environment.

In both the cases, osmosis has occurred, which is a mode of passive transport.

Introduction: The technique used to separate an organic compound from a mixture of compounds is called Extraction. Extraction process selectively dissolves one or more of the mixture compounds into a suitable solvent. The solution of these dissolved compounds is referred to as the Extract. Here the organic solvent dichloromethane is used to extract caffeine from an aqueous extract of tea leaves because caffeine is more soluble in dichloromethane (140 mg/ml) than it is in water (22 mg/ml). However, there are...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
