Olfactory nerve is the one among the 12 cranial nerves located
within the head. It is responsible for the sense of smell. It
relays sensory data to the brain.
In the nasal mucosa there are bipolar cells which give rise to
axons that enter the cranial cavity through foramina in the
cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone. These cells and their axons
make up the olfactory nerve.Once in the cranial cavity, the fibres
terminates in a small oval structure resting on the cribriform
plate called the olfactory bulb. The functional component of
olfactory fibres is special visceral afferent.
Facts about Olfactory nerve:
1. This is the smallest nerve located in the upper-back part of the
nose which is about the size of a postage stamp.
2. The flavor is fundamentally a fusion of taste and smell.
3. The sense of smell is a key player in the ability to
taste.
4. Anosmia is the complete loss of the sense of smell. It can be
permanent or temporary.
5. The sense of smell is the only cranial nerve- nerves that emerge
from the brain and control bodily functions including eye movement
, taste, vision and hearing.
6. Loss of smell may be a signal of future illness : Decreased
smell may be an early sign of Alzheimers or parkinson's
disease.
The diagram of olfactory receptor neuron and sagital section of
nasal cavity is given in the figure.

Pick a cranial nerve (1-12). This is first come, first serve; if more than 2 people have already reported on a cranial nerve, you will need to pick another number. List at least 5 major facts about your assigned cranial nerve (complete sentences are required; base facts off the cranial nerve objectives provided below) Include at least two labeled pictures
Give at least two points that a working accountant will
find useful (using complete sentences).
THE BOTTOM Changes to Revenue Recoqnition Requirements By Quinn R. Martin, Matthew J. Frazier and Michael J. Devereux Revenue is considered one of the most important financial statement measures. 1. What is the definition of an 'equivalence point' in an acid/base titration? (1 point) 2. In part one of the experiment, you will prepare the acid solutions being titrated from a stock solution. Describe how you will accurately prepare 10.00 mL of 0.100 M HCl solution using a 1.00 M HCl stock solution. In your response to this question, be very specific about the quantities of stock solution and deionized water to be used in the dilution and the...
CASE 17: WATSON’S AMBULATORY EHR TRANSITION Major theme: System acquisition Primary care physicians play a key role in the U.S. health care delivery system. These providers integrate internal and external information with their clinical knowledge to determine the patient’s treatment options. An effective ambulatory electronic health record (EHR) is critical to supply physicians with the information they need to provide quality care and maximize their efficiency. This case involves the decision-making process to replace an inadequate EHR system in a...
When faced with a problem, what do you do to solve it? This assignment asks you to apply a six-step to problem solving process to a specific problem scenario. You will write a paper that presents a synthesis of your ideas about solving the problem using this systematic approach. As Voltaire said, "No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking." Choose one (1) of the problem scenarios as a topic choice for your paper (Note: Your professor must approve...
