• In Phase I, the carbon atom attached with the aromatic ring is first oxidised to produce carboxylic acid metabolite
• In Phase II reaction the carboxylic acid metabolite further reacts with glucuronic acid, readily available in the body for conjugation, and produce more water soluble glucuronides which can be easily eliminated.
