During the neuronal transduction, when an action potential reach to the terminal end of axon, it triggers the Ca++ and lead to further release of neurotransmitters (e.g.- acetylcholine) from synaptic vesicles into the synaptic cleft. This process is termed as regulated exocytosis because it requires an external signal to trigger the increase Ca++ in the intracellular matrix. Hence option (a) is the correct answer.
