Pro-collagen is the precursor of collagen.

For formation of pro-collage structure, there should be alignment of 3- α helices.

This alignment requires di-sulfide linkages in C-terminal of the α helices pro-peptide chains.

The triple helical structure favors the formation of inter-strand bond and help in stabilization of the molecule
