Scientists in the study collected environmental samples from three sources: soil, sediment and river water. Bacteria from sediment suffered the most from the pitfall described in this paper. Explain why you think the bacteria from sediment suffered the most.

In the sediment,heavy particles settle down and bacterial population increases rapidly by taking nourishment form them without any barrier because in the flowing river water many fluctuations occurs by which areation occurs better so that anaerobic bacteria does not grow well,and same in the case of soil,aerobes does not grow well so in the sediment bacterial population grows well so suffered .
