Yes, Power is good thing that all the managers should strive to possess, again, power can be used many way by a manager to get the job done from team members and to meet the project or organizational objective, so types of power are Positional power, Referent power, Reward power, Expert Power, and coercive power, with the help of positional power, manager present themselves on behalf of Top management team and sponsor, and manage the team, again, with the help of referent power, managers hold good personality and influence their followers, team members to get the job done, with the help of reward power, managers use reward and recognition process to recognize their followers and help them to meet the performance objective, further, Managers can use Expert power, with this power, they hold subject matter expertise role, they have very good skills and knowledge in the specific domain, they can influence their team member with such knowledge, again, Coercive power is such power, where, managers can rebuke their team members, which is also considered as least influential,

Also is political conduct acceptable in an organizational environment?

The political conduct should be measured with its effectiveness and role in pursuing the organizational development, if political conduct is creating much bias situation and unfair role within the organization, where, people diversity, utilization of skills and expertise, people motivation level getting changed and affecting in negative way, then political conduct should not be acceptable in an organizational environment,

Let me consider the name of Founder, chairperson, and CEO of Amazon, Jeff bezos, who has taken huge experience in various domain and understand the pain areas of customers, utilized his own experience in developing the company Amazon and made it more technological advanced and created a platform which can serve all stakeholders like customer, employee in more flexible way, further, he is using transformative leadership power and expert power to help organizational employees to grow with full potentiality and bring more innovation within the company,

Again, we have example of Zheng Xiaoyu ran from china’s drug administration, who has abused his power and caught into bribes taking case, where he has allowed many companies to register their products by illegal and unethical means, they also don’t meet the safety and environmental standards,
