Various interpretations of the term common sense have been presented. Of those presented, which one seems to be the most convincing to you? What alternative definition of common sense so you think should be considered?

If moral common sense develops over time as humans collectively and cumulatively learn from their mistakes, on what basis can we say that morality in the business world is qualitatively better than it was a century or two ago?

Answer #1

The most convincing interpretation of common sense to me is “the ability to make sound and prudent judgement about a given situation that benefits most people that are involved in the decision making process”

An alternative interpretation that can be considered is “judgement capability that is developed over the course of time”

Let’s look at the businesses today and the businesses a century or two ago. Nowadays every organization and businesses are actively pursuing ideas and projects such as abolishment of unfair practices, environmental impact, social cause and community building. These ideas of responsible behavior was not present a century or two ago. This means that over the time, business world has become more responsible and morally sound than it was earlier. On this basis we can say that.
