Identify the four types of precautionary statements used for HazCom labels, and provide sample wording for a specific chemical of your choice. Your response should be at least 75 words in length.

There are four types of precautionary statements presented, prevention, response, storage, and disposal. Prevention is to minimize exposure (Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames/hot surfaces). Response is in case of accidental spillage or exposure, tells you what to do (If swallowed: Immediately call a poison control center or doctor). Storage tell you how to store it (Store in a well-ventilated place). Disposal is how to get rid of it (Dispose of contents, waste product and containers to an approved waste disposal plant).

For example I used Doxy a defoamer:

Prevention- Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No Smoking. Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapors/spray.

Response- If on skin: take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water or shower. Call poison center doctor if you feel unwell. In case of fire use dry sand, dry chemical or alcohol resistant foam.

Storage- Store in a well-ventilated place.

Dispose- Dispose of contents/ container in accordance with local/regional/ national and international regulations.
