Your friend has mushrooms growing on their lawn and in order to rid their lawn of the fungi, they remove all the mushrooms they find. Provide an explanation of what part of the fungi your friend removed and how successful they were in mitigating their mushroom infestation.

The mushroim has following parts. Please look in the image for diagrammatic representation:

As the parts above the soil is pileus, annulus, stipe and volva. So all of the parts other than mycelia is removed by my friend.

He is not successfully in mitigating the mushroom infectation. Because mushroom produces large number of basisiospore which is found in the soil and germinates again after some time.

The myclia still remains in the soil which will lead to again germination of whole body parts of mushroom. That's why my friend is not successful in mitigating of mushroom infections.
