The following sequences represent the beginning of potential mRNA molecules. Which one of these strands contains the information needed to code for a peptide? Why?
i: 5’ UUUGCUAAAGACCUAGAAUU 3’
ii: 5’ CCUCCAUGCCGCUAUACUUA 3’
iii: 5’ CAUGUAACCGCUCGAGGAUA 3’
iv: 5’ AACCUUCUUAGAGGCCCCUA 3’
I believe the correct answers to be as follows:
Option ii) 5’ CCUCCAUGCCGCUAUACUUA 3’
Because both of these sequence have AUG codon that is a start codon and is needed by the ribosome to start the production of peptide. Option C can not be correct because it has UAA codon or stop codon next to AUG codon so the translation would stop right here and no peptide would be synthesized.
feel free to leave a comment down below for any further query. good rating would be appreciated if you find my answer helpful. thank you.

Below are several DNA sequences that are mutated compared with the wild-type sequence: 3-TAC TGACTGACGAT C-5. Envision that each is a section of a DNA molecule that has separated in preparation for transcription, so you are only seeing the template strand. Construct the complementary DNA sequences (indicating 5' and 3' ends) for each mutated DNA sequence, then transcribe (indicating 5' and 3' ends) the template strands, and translate the mRNA molecules using the genetic code, recording the resulting amino acid...

Which of the following mRNA strands contains the longest open reading frame? I get that. What I don't get is that these strands are written from 5' to 3'. I know that this is the convention, but I thought that DNA was read from 3' to 5' by the enzymes that synthesize the new strand? What am I...
