Investing time in scope management would result in better allocation, prioritization, and execution. However, I find WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) a little bit more strict and process oriented. Could someone bring a clear example of how WBS would apply in action?

As the name indicates 'work breakdown structure', it is a clear process of simpliciting a work or a project.This mean breaking down a huge job into different managable sections.so that different people can work on various regions of a single project at the same time.This is the simple explanation of work breakdown structure.

The advantage of this process is to save time and maximum utilizing of that time just as like brainstorming process.Usually work breakdown process are proposed at the intial phase of a particular project.By dividing each phases in the project to different levels, one can work detaily on a particular branch.

Example :

Imagine you are working in the assembling section of a car manufacturing company. Every parts for the car have reached at your section and all you have to do is assemble them.But the one problem is every parts are mixed in condition even from the tyre to engine.So this is where WBS is applicable.Therefore in order to assemble the parts 1st you have to seperate the parts into different section in order to make it easy for assembling .

A car contains

a) Frame set. b) wheel set. c) Gear set. d) Braking system. e) Gear shifting systems. E.t.c

So for easy assembling ,dividing the parts into under these different section for different individuals make the job easier and time savable.
