Functional conflicts: are those conflicts which may exist in a group or a company which supports the overall goals of the company/group and creates a positive impact by improving the performance. Functional conflicts are considered to be constructive, healthy and positive. In a functional conflict, the people in the group share their views and disagreement in a constructive manner thereby enhancing innovation, performance and creativity.
Positive effects of functional conflicts:
Dysfunctional conflicts: can be considered as unhealthy disagreement that may occur between individuals of a group. Dysfunctional conflicts are unhealthy and non-constructive conflicts which may have a negative impact on the group. Dysfunctional conflicts lead to a dip in communication and hinders the growth and performance of the group.
