The traits and behavior of a leader define her/him in an organization. It is generally accepted that leadership style emphasizing proper behavior is preferable to leadership style in which the leader focuses on incorporation of desirable traits in her/his conduct.
Studies on leader behaviors and identified how leaders demonstrate two key behaviors: (i) focus on people (consideration); and (ii) focus on task (structure). Depending on a leader’s perception of the relative importance of people and tasks, leadership styles can reflect a combination of structure and consideration ranging from high structure/low consideration to low structure/high consideration.
