Morphology, Macromolecular systematics and cytogenetics have an essential role in plant systematics. Their importance in plant systematics is following:

* Morphology: This involves external features of a plant. For example: Presence of verticillaster infloescens tells that plant is belonged to lamiaceae family.

" Presence of tricolpate pollen belongs to divot and moncoplate belongs to monocot.

" No pollen aperture in Zingiberaceae.

* Macromolecular Systematics:  

Presence of viscin thread in pollen which is made up of long chain of carbohydrates belongs to Orchideacea family

Presence of pollina shaped pollen in Asclepidaceae family.

* Cytogenetics:  

Monocot has larger chromosome than dicot.

Herbaceous plant has larger chromosome than Woody plant.

Original base number of angiosperm is X=7.

Ranunculaceae has base number 8 which will leads to rise in thalictraceae (7) Coptideae(8) and Paeoniaceae (5) .chromosomes
