A leader is the person who leads the team to a common dream and this process of leading is called leadership. there are so many scholars who gave their theories about Leadership. But leadership has never been limited in few theories. each time and each era gives different view of the leadership. the different theories are-
Great Man Theory-According to the Great Man Theory (which should perhaps be called the Great Person Theory), leaders are born with just the right traits and abilities for leading – charisma, intellect, confidence, communication skills, and social skills.
Trait Theory-The Trait Theory is very similar to the Great Man Theory. It is founded on the characteristics of different leaders – both the successful and unsuccessful ones. The theory is used to predict effective leadership. Usually, the identified characteristics are compared to those of potential leaders to determine their likelihood of leading effectively.
Contingency Theory-The Contingency Theory emphasizes different variables in a specific setting that determine the style of leadership best suited for the said situation. It is founded on the principle that no one leadership style is applicable to all situations.
Situational Theory-The Situational Theory is similar to the Contingency Theory as it also proposes that no one leadership style supersedes others. As its name suggests, the theory implies that leadership depends on the situation at hand. Put simply, leaders should always correspond their leadership to the respective situation by assessing certain variables such as the type of task, nature of followers, and more.
according to me the theory which make sense to me is the Situational theory of leadership because in our organization we faces many situations inside out but each situation can not be handled by a single approach. the solution requires different approach to handle the problem.
for example- In a company XYZ, there are employees who agrees with the leadership style of its manager but some employees oppose him and do not agree with his decision then in this situation, the leader changes his approach to lead those employee differently like strictly like autocratic style by showing them that manager is the in charge and they has to obey them.
The situational leadership theory can be defined as quality and skills of leader to adapt according to the situation and make decision to solve the problem at hand.
This theory creates effectiveness by giving different different experiences to leader which comes in real world and how the leader can deal with them.
Based on this theory, the managers can be better if they completely believe in their instincts and take suggestions from their followers so that conflicts do not arise and situation can be handled effectively.managers should analyse the situation then take the approach.
So, i can say that, the view of leadership theory can be different from person to person but a true leader is that who can achieve his dream or vision without harming others.

agree or not? What personal capacities should a person develop to be a good leader versus those developed to be a good manager? A person who is a good manager is not necessarily a good leader.
