The main advantage of community correction is cost-effectiveness. Many community programs cost lesser compared to jail and prison. Offenders can reside at home which helps lower the cost of living. Besides, they can financially support themselves and their family by receiving a salary and paying taxes. It also helps them to compensate their victims. Community programs can lessen jail crowding and give a chance to the offenders to complete their sentences with a correctional program. The flexibility of programs can be used at many junctures in the criminal justice process. These programs avoid exposing offenders to unsafe and violent atmosphere in jails. Also, offenders having a medical condition can complete a sentence at their residence.
