Age really matters when it comes to the right to vote because voting a party for selection of leader is a responsible and sensible act. When the general public of any country elect their president then they must have enough understanding that they know who is eligible and right person for their country to be a leader.
Earlier, the age of 21 was established as minimum because as per definition of WHO(World Health Organization), the person is regarded as adolescent till the age of 21. And they says that adolescent is not capable to take responsible decision on its own.
The age is reduced to 18 because person between the age of 13 to
18 is considered as adolescent and above 18 is considered as
adult.
So, any person who is 18 years old is adult and is major and have
enough maturity to understand what is right and what is wrong. He
or she can vote independently and act as a responsible citizen of
the country.
I think there is no need to increase or decrease the age of 18 because 18 is perfect age to call a person adult. At this age, person is enough sensible to take his or her decision independently , so if talking about voting right, the age is perfect.
