Answer: a. Promoter

Explanation: Transcription is a process where the DNA sequence of the gene is copied to RNA. During the process of initiating transcription, there is binding of RNA polymerase to the gene's DNA at a site, called Promoter. It is the Promoter that informs the polymerase, the place where it binds to the DNA and starts the process of transcription. Therefore transcription begins when the RNA polymerase binds to promoter near the beginning of a gene.

Transcription terminator marks the end of a gene during the transcription process. Transcription factors are proteins involved in the process of conversion of DNA into RNA.
