1)Epigenetics

In epigenetics, the expression will be changed via DNA methylation and histone modification without changing the DNA sequences.

2)Gene promoter

DNA methylation is the process by which a methyl group is transferred to the DNA molecule catalyzed by an enzyme DNA methyltransferase. DNA methylation most commonly occurs at CpG(phosphodiester bond linking cytosine and guanine-containing nucleotides) dinucleotides sequence. When the CpG island in the promoter region of the gene is methylated, it represses the gene transcription.

3) Synonymous codons

Different codons that encode for the same amino acids are called synonymous codons. For example, UUU and UCC are synonyms for phenylalanine
