What is the best way to define the Six Sigma steps represented by the acronym DMAIC? How can a student apply steps for better studying?
DMAIC is the approach to solve the problem through Six Sigma which is a five-phased procedure that includes Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control to enhance the problems and know the causes for it.
The best way to define it through selecting a good project and through it all becomes easy.
Define: so, basically one needs to know what problem you want to fix? Here, the project manager formulates project charter that includes the problem, business case, timeline to complete, scope, team size, goals.
Measure: then comes measure phase, where problems are arising from or quantifying the problem. It provides key arrows of the process and what is happening exactly.
Analyze: This is the most crucial phase as it needs proper understanding. One cannot jump to a direct solution without understanding the cause or analyzing the problem. It leads to wastage of time, human resources, risking other things.
Improve: once a team knows the cause, it's time for the team to implement the plan with solution, ideas or changes. Then collect data about the improvements.
Control: once the solution is being provided, it important those solution gives outcomes or results. The team should serve to retain the results and it becomes practical.
The study surely includes defining goals for learning, measuring what it takes to gather material, analyzing test results for the use of education, the continuous advancement of instruction and lastly controlling the outcomes.
Using the DMAIC strategy of Six Sigma in studying and applying it effectively can help students enhance their performance and results.
