Answer #1

One of the most important things about Erikson’s psycho-social development is that it focuses on the influence of one’s environment such as, parents, family, educational institutions, employment, social institutions, culture, socio-economic factors in one’s development. One is the product of one’s own environment because when a child is born, it’s free to learn anything which depends on its environment. A child that grows in a favorable environment would develop healthily while one which grows in an abusive, neglect and low socio-economic and cultural factors wouldn’t develop well. That’s why famous behavioral psychologist James B. Watson boldly challenged the world by quoting, ‘give me a dozen well formed babies and I would make them whoever you want them to become such as, doctors, engineers, teachers and even thieves’, thus, insisting on the importance of one’s environment in one’s development.
