While interviewing a healthcare industry leader, the importance of business communication skills was pointed out. The person is a military officer holding the position for several years and is quite senior but he is aware of the role communication plays. The questions asked to him were:

1. Why do you think communication is important?

2. What is the difference between the communication in an organization and in military service

3. Do you think training is important?

4. Are soft skills important? To what extent?

The answers made it clear that even in healthcare communication is considered to be important and there is no substitute. Soft skills are important skills in the field and cannot be ignored anyhow. In order to make such skills developed, training programs should be conducted so that employee get better with time and are prepared. There are specific levels of communication and that may differ but the basics are identical and needs to be followed.
