Germanium(Ge) diode is better than the remaining given for implementing logic circuits.

  • Germanium diodes have the advantage of an intrinsically low forward voltage drop, typically 0.3 volts. This low voltage drop results in low power loss and more efficient diode. Silicon diode have 0.7volts forward voltage drop while GaAs has even more.
  • In low level logic circuits, the low voltage drop across a diode is very important.
  • As a result Germanium diodes are more often used in low level logic circuits.
