Answer #1

Plasma membrane is made of lipid bilayer, in which there are integral proteins and peripheral proteins. The lipid bilayer will not allow the hydrophobic compound to pass through because on outside it has the hydrophillic region, which will not allow hydrophic molecule to pass through. The molecule can travel via integral proteins because they are the transmembrane proteins, which means they have openings on both side of the membrane. They can transport the small, hydrophic molecule by facilitated diffusion or active transport.
