There are many social factors which play an important role in causing mental illness:-

1. Financial condition – No matter what but a good financial stability makes life a little easier with some comfort and not always trying to meet ends. It helps one to lead a comfortable life with all the amenities. A constant flow of income helps in easing up the tension and stress which otherwise becomes a difficulty in survival. One of the examples is when there is a steady source of income, there are things that can be taken care of and liabilities can be managed. But when there is no steady income source, managing things and working extra to earn more become a mental stress and takes a toll on mental condition.
2. Environment and upbringing – Depending on the neighborhood and environment at home or surrounding area, a lot can change. It is often seen that people raised up with a disturbing childhood are socially awkward and might also suffer from mental trauma due to incidences that must have occurred while growing up. The environment and everything else if not positive, a person is subjected to stress and trauma.
3. Employment and education – Education is an integral part and not able to do good academically might lead to a lot of mental trauma and stress. After spending years shaping career, if one does not lead to good job, this tends to cause low self esteem problem and feeling of dejection.
4. Loss in any sense – It can be any sort of loss whether losing a family member, someone close or a dear friend, the loss can be very traumatic at time and contribute to mental illness. The loss of money in business to loss of job or self respect also causes a lot of mental trauma
