Answer #1

NOTE: Duration of A is 2 or 5? I have taken it 5 as per the hand-drawn diagram. But the first image (print) shows it to be 2.

1.

Compute the Early Start (ES), Early Finish (EF), Late Start (LS), and Late Finish (LF) using the following rules.

Forward pass:

  • ES of the starting activities = 0
  • ES of all other activities = Max. (EF of their immediate predecessors)
  • EF of an activity = Its ES + Its duration

Backward pass:

  • LF of ending activities = Max. (All EFs)
  • LF of all other activities = Min. (LS of their immediate successors)
  • LS of an activity = Its LF - Its duration

Slack = LF - EF

4 4 8 5 13 13 3 16 P H. 10 10 14 14 6 19 19 6 22 C 5 3 A C 0 C 5 0 8 0 2 2 8 5 13 D 3 3 5 8 0 13 0 6 6 13 2 15 15 7 22 G 7 7

2.

The activities with zero slack will have EF = LF. These are A, C, D, G, and I.
