Think of a recent medical encounter you had where a clinical decision was made. Describe the decision and then categorize it as Evidence-Based, Computational, Judgment-Based, Intuitive, or Affective. What contexts applied during the decision: Team, patient involvement, or urgent? Defend your answer.
I presently work in the pediatrics oncology department . Many small - small children's come with different types of blood cancers , soft tissue sarcomas etc . In the last opd I saw a patient who had neuroblastoma and the physician has tried different types of treatment options including radiation but the disease is progressing continuously . On that day it was decided by the physician to start metronomic therapy because none of the other treatment options was working and according to me it is the correct decision because it is evidence based . When any of the treatment option is not working , metronomic is the mixture of drugs that is given to the cancer patients to prolong their life and decrease their pain and suffering by IV drugs and other agents .
It is categorised as judgement based - the act or process of forming an opinion or making a decision after careful thought . The context applied during the decision is the physicians team , patient and their family members involvement and the decision was made on urgent basis .
