  • Complete protein is defined as the whole protein which contains all essential amino acids is specified quantity to supply energy required for the growth and development of the tissue as well as organ.

For example: Whole grains, eggs, chickens, fish and meat.

  • Complementary proteins are defined as the combined proteins of 2 or more incomplete protein sources which may be taken in same meal or on the same day to compensate each other to fulfill the lack of amino acids.

For example: Cheese and macaroni, Peanut butter and sandwich, Beans and rice, Tofu and rice

  • Supplementary proteins: these are incomplete proteins which are combined with the small amount of the complete protein to makeup the complete protein.

            For example: Cheese pizza, egg salad sandwich, corns and legumes, Liver proteins
