So let us discuss this important concept of relation between estrogen and osteoporosis
You might have heard that as soon as womens age the chances of there fractures increase . This apply same to mens but females are more early affected . So
Normally there are 2 type of cells responsible for bone growth and maturation . These are osteoclast and osteoblast cells .
Osteoclasts cells are the cells which help in bone resorption which is necessary for maintaining the calcium level in the body
As osteoclast cells weaken the bones and forms pores . The osteoblast cells are the cells which help in again filling the bone which is lost due to osteoclast cells . This is a normal physiological phenomenon
Now estrogen is a sex hormone produced from ovaries
It is said that estrogen decrease the production of osteoclast cells by promoting apoptosis . And increase the function of osteoblasts cells . So as women age when they are near to menopause there is suddenly deficiency of estrogen occur . Which increase the function of osteoclast cells and hence the bone become porous
That's why post menopausal women are advised to take hormone replacement therapy
Below is a chart which shows the relation of estrogen and bone cells

c) Plasma estrone plus estradiol (Plasma E1 2) steroid levels were measured in women given estrogen (Premarin) and in a control group of women. The women given estrogen were divided into three treatment groups. One group was given a daily dose of. 0.625 mg, the second group was given 1.25 mg, and the third group was given 2.5 mg. The researchers noted that the plasma steroid levels were not normally distributed, but became so after a logarithm transformation was applied....
Let P, and pą be the respective proportions of women with iron-deficiency anemia in each of two developing countries. A random sample of 2100 women from the first country yielded 418 women with iron deficiency anemia, and an independently chosen, random sample of 2400 women from the second country yielded 560 women with iron-deficiency anemia. Can we conclude, at the 0.05 level of significance, that the proportion of women with anemia in the first country affers from the proportion of...
