Explain in your own words what Big Data is and what its characteristics are

What are the uses of Big Data?

Discuss the challenges that come with using Big Data. Do you think these challenges can be overcome? Justify your answer

Big Data :

in simple words the collection of data which is expanding or growing exponentially with time and managing this data with traditionally method is pointless or impossible is known as Big data. For E.G Trading data, Social media.

Characteristic of big data: charactristic of big data is similar as the small data characteristic can be shown by 4V characteristic.

• Volume: the larger the volume or sizer of total data generates a larger big data for processing.
• Variety : verity of data means that the hetroginity of data or types of data in big data. like photos text videos etc.
• Velocity: it is the measure of rate of data generation. i.e the data is how fast generated can be determined by its velocity.
• Variablity : the processing or generation of data is consistent or inconsistent can fal under variability of big data.

However the data is generated at very fast rate so it have some challenges in processing like

• If data generation is very high the processing and maintaining data gets very difficult.
• storing the data of large volume can consume lots of space which further requires huge investments.
• the velocity of data generation is variable so, we should be ready for worst case for example accelartion od data generation.
• validating data is the one of the major issue of big data. due to is size.
• Security of the data is essential part in 21 first century. because we are having a information or data revolution.

most of the challenges of big data can be overcome by advance computing and cheap technology for storage.
