Tesla's Mission Statement:
"to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy." From the begining of the organization which was about a decade ago, they are working on the same mission. They are working on introducing electric cars to the market and public and lessen the use of gasoline vehicles. Tesla is not only taking an innovative step towards bringing electric vehicles on road but also making those models affordable for a larger population than limited to a certain class. They believe in clean transport and clean energy production.
Tesla was started by a group of engineers who focused on introducing and proving better the use of electric vehicles on road than the gasoline vehicles that were being used. The company was started in 2003. In today's time the company has not only manufactured several car models of working on electric energy but also built other products that work on the same concept of saving energy. Its battery technology and electric powertrain was unveiled in 2008. Its first sedan Model S was the electric car that was catergorised as best in terms of performance, efficiency and safety. It became the first electric vehicle with the longest range. Next Tesla introduced in market Model X, the quickest, safest sports car with maximum capability. Then came Model 3 in 2017 which was priced low and performed with high volume. After this the company introduced Tesla Semi which was a comfortable truck which worked on faving millions of miles on fuel.
Tesla's factory is based in California, where the components of the vehicles are also manufactured. As on date Tesla is working on producing 500,000 vehicles in a year. And all its production is based on the concept of creating a sustainable energy ecosystem.
The customers of Tesla are based on word of mouth marketing and mall showrooms displays because of its brand name and brand loyalty in its customers. It does not spend on advertising campaigns like other automobile companies do. It forms customers with its uniqueness and advanced technology. They sell their cars to direct customers rather than through dealerships which help them in generating additional revenues. More than a profit making company it has been a environmental and consumer serving company which has attracted its customers and made them loyal to the brand.
The competitors of the company are Ford Motor company, General Motors, Honda Motor company, Nasdaq listed Kandi technologies, Oshkosh, PACCAR, Spartan Motors, Tata Motors, Toyota Motor Corp., Wabco. Though Tesla is exceeding in the market as the manufacturer of electric vehciles but slowly these companies are taking up the concept and bringing up models of the same concept. Chevrolet Bolt EV by General motors is considered a competitor to Tesla Model 3. The elements of competition are the price ranges, comfort, safety and performance level.
