Sociology is the one that deals with the study of the relationship between humans in a society or a community and the functioning of various institutions set up by human beings in a society. Sociology has specific conditions as to define "normality" which is purely based on scientific grounds and evidence. Common sense is never used by sociology experts to prove certain details with respect to relationship between human beings and society as common sense is purely based on a common belief and is not backed by any sort of scientific evidence. A systemic analysis is the one which is an integral part of sociology findings where common sense has absolutely no role to play.

Caste-based society is a form of social stratification that is purely based on details such as ancestry, family history related to the birth of an individual. Class-based society is one where social stratification uses not only the birth details but also the achievement attained by an individual with its merit either being enjoyed by either a particular person or a group of interlinked people. Yes, there are chances for a class based society to act as a caste system if members in the society shares similar birth aspects or similar caste.
