Employee training can be defined as planned organizational efforts to help employees learn job-related knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Training is a lifelong process. For example training workers for international business is effective in preparing them for work in a different culture.

  • Describe some of the employee training and development programs used in organizations today. Explain which ones may be more effective than others.
  • Do an Internet search using the phrase: CDC - Training - Hand Hygiene. In a health care setting hand washing is a key measure in preventing the spread of disease. From a training perspective explain why something as simple as hand washing would require such a developed training module.

A)

Training and development is the best way to find the homegrown talent to take on advanced positions within your organization. This is the reason why many organizations focus on training their employees so that these employees can fill up their senior roles. This is as well very cost-effective as opposed to bringing the entirely new person on board to manage the senior roles. Hence, companies prefer to promote the homegrown talent within the companies by training them and then pushing them to take on advanced roles.

There are various types of training that are available and used by organizations widely. Some of these training are personality development, sales training, Expat training, technical training, safety training, compliance training, skill development training, etc. These are some of the most widely used training by organizations to improve their workforce. Two of the most important training would be skill development training and personality development. These two pieces of training help the employees in developing their personalities and skills. This adds value to the employee and hence the employee can then be ready to handle higher roles within the organization.

It is required to provide training for every small necessary activity even if it is as trivial as washing our hands because we as human beings may not consider washing our hands as important unless we have a clear awareness about the aftereffects of not washing our hands that leading to spread of various diseases. It is necessary to have awareness about the things we need to avoid in order to stop spreading diseases. This is why it is necessary to provide training for every small activity in order to improve the awareness of people around that particular training objective.
