Drug inhibits enzyme. In 6 sentences, generally describe the mechanism
Drug inhibits enzyme activity either reversible or irreversible manner. In irreversible binding drug compound bind to the enzyme active site using covalent bond and alter the enzyme structure whereas in reversible inhibition there is transient formation of the enzyme inhibition complex, Reversible inhibition is of two types competitive and non competitive. Competitive inhibitors compete with substrate to bind on the active site, on the other hand noncompetitive inhibitor bind the other site of the enzyme and deform the enzyme structure.Drugs also inhibits the activity of enzymes by direct suppressing the function of genes in the different steps of protein synthesis and nucleic acid synthesis. Antibiotics are the best examples of enzyme inhibitors.

You want to design a drug that inhibits a particular enzyme. If the active site of the enzyme is similar to several other enzymes, what is your strategy?
PT1. Which of the following does not describe a mechanism that cells use to regulate enzyme activity? Explain. (5 points) Cells control enzyme activity by the binding of small molecules Cells control enzyme activity by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation Cells control the diffusion rates of substrate to enzymes Cells control the rate of enzyme degradation Cells control the rate of enzyme synthesis Cells control the targeting of enzymes to specific organelles PT2. Which of the following properties of an enzyme is...
Describe in three sentences the action of mydriatics and in what circumstances this type of drug would be used.
Describe the reaction mechanism for the enzyme aldolase, include the nucleophiles and the electrophiles in the reaction. What would happen to the reaction mechanism if the active site Lysine were mutated to alanine?
The anti-obesity drug orlistat inhibits pancreatic lipase
breakdown of triglycerides. The fat then passes through the small
intestine into the colon and is not absorbed into the blood stream.
Write a general mechanism that accounts for the orlistat inhibition
of pancreatic lipase.
Draw and describe the reaction using 2 or less sentences per step of the mechanism for: a) 2-bromohexane (product) b) 1-bromo-3,3-dimethylbutane (product) Please help!

Conversely, in muscle cells, low energy charge ["activates or inhibits"] glycolysis. Specifically, AMP activates the enzyme ["phosphofructokinase 1 or hexokinase"] . Pyruvate kinase is positively regulated by [fructose 1,6-bisphosphate or glucose 6-phosphate"] through feed-forward activation. The enzyme ["hexokinase or phosphofructokinase 1] is not affected. Choose one of the answers in the brackets.
