what type of gram reactions are possible in macConkey and blood agar and why?
McConkey agar is selective and differential media it selects bacteria based on ability to ferment the lactose. it contains bile salt and crystal violate dye which inhibits the growth of gram-positive bacteria so it only grows gram-negative bacteria.
blood agar is differential media but nonselective. bacteria which able to hemolyze the blood are grown on this media like streptococcus. in blood agar both types of gram positive and gram negative cells are grown.
what type of gram reactions are possible in macConkey and blood agar and why?
How would you verify that the colonies that grew on a MacConkey agar plate were Gram negative? What types of bacteria are inhibited on MacConkey agar?
MacConkey agar questions 4. Would this bacteria be a Gram positive or a Gram negative? How do you know? 5. Does this bacteria ferment lactose? How do you know?
Blood agar questions 9. What type of hemolysis is represented by A? 10. Will this media tell you whether a bacteria is Gram positive or Gram negative? Why, or why not?
9. What is the role of bile salts and crystal violet in MacConkey agar? 10. Why do non-fermenters form white/colorless colonies on MacConkey agar? 11. How does NaCl in Mannitol Salt agar kill organisms? 12. How is Staphylococcus aureus differentiated from other Staphylococci species on Mannitol Salt agar?

Part 3: MacConkey agar and EMB agar Watch the following video (LINK) in this folder. You will be answering questions on this video, so please go over the questions first. Go over exercises 4-4 and 4-5. Answer the following questions 1. Define Enterobacteriaceae and coliforms (may have to do some research online). 2. What Enterobacteriacae is EMB and MacConkey agar selective for? 3. What carbohydrate is contained in both EMB and MacConkey agar? 4....

What are some potentially pathogenic bacteria that are lactose fermenters that will grow on MacConkey agar?” Click here to enter text.
can someone find me the results for a MacConkey agar and a Gram
staining with these organisms, thanks! Klebsiella pneumoniae,
Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, Proteus mirabilis,
Proteus vulgaris, Providencia stuarti, Pseudomonas aeruginosa,

Can colony morphology be done from a MacConkey or Rose agar plate? Why or why not?
Using a MacConkey agar medium is better for finding Salmonella in a stool specimen than using a Luria agar medium. What ingredients in a MacConkey agar medium makes it better, and why? (4 points)
Microbiology Question If a bacterium exhibits purple growth on MacConkey agar, what color would you expect it to demonstrate when grown on Hektoen agar? On Eosin-Methylene Blue agar? (please also explain why) I know that a positive result is pink in MacConkey, and that my teacher is trying to get some critical thinking done with this question, but I'm not even sure what to think. Please help!
