You are working with your Project Sponsor to decide on the optimal project management structure for this project. You are confident that either a dedicated project team structure or a matrix structure will work for the project, but the Project Sponsor thinks either will fail. I will explain to Project Sponsor about potential benefits of both the structure. The dedicated project team structure will help to form a team who can constantly work on the project and complete the work as per assigned timelines. It will avoid any kind of interference and disturbance from outside as they will be handling only one job at a time. It will help to increase synergy and coordination amongst members. On the other hand, matrix structure is also very useful in carrying out the project. It will avoid the need for dedicated resources on the project which otherwise will be additional cost to company. The people and project will be aligned in such a manner that they are able to carry out their routine work along with project. The expertise in their area will be very beneficial for the project and help to give success in the long run. So, either structure will be successful for the project.
